"Go Firm" describes the decision to take a deliberate pause in an offensive military operation in order to problem solve, reduce complexity, and to generate power for the next moves. Life, like combat, requires temporary pauses to sort out the chaos.
Warfighters use the term getting "eyes on" to describe the action of conducting reconnaissance, or examining an objective in advance of an operation. Get perspective and examine chaos before you commit to an action.
The term “gung ho” means to work together, or in harmony. When you "go firm," a gung ho mentality is required to set optimal conditions for follow on operations.
